Green Organic Food for Health and Energy
AFA Blue-Green Algae
"The first food on the planet."
Meets the needs of our body at a cellular level.
There are 3500 species of algae. In this hemisphere, according to scientists, there is only one site where the highest form of algae, Aphanizonmennon flos-algae (AFA) can be found. It's commonly called Blue-Green Algae. This nutrient packed algae is found in it's pure, uncontaminated form in Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon, USA. It's a remarkable one-celled, nutrient-rich algae that some say is the first food on the planet. It has a cell wall of protein and within the cell is chlorophyll (planet life) and bacteria.

How long has this fresh-water algae been around?
We know it has only been scientifically harvested for human consumption since 1982. But the two geological happenings that occurred thousands of years ago provide us with this life-sustaining and energy-packed food source. The first event was the retreat of the West coast Glaciers some 10,000 years ago and the second was the volcanic eruption of Mount Mazama some 7,000 years ago. At that time a mile high of the mountain peak blew off. This left us with one of the seven wonders of the world, Crater Lake. Located at the foot of the mountain is spring-fed Upper Klamath Lake with a thick floor of nutrient-rich minerals, volcanic material and other nutrients. In this environment of abundant minerals, natural nutrients, fresh water, and sunlight, AFA (Blue Green Algae) has had a perfect opportunity to flourish for centuries.
Every spring this highest form of algae, AFA, in pristine pure waters, with over 300 days of sunlight, and some 35 feet of nutrient-rich mineral deposits, abundantly grows in a protected environment. Seventy percent of the wet land area in this part of Oregon, including Upper Klamath Lake is under federal ownership and thus protected from various kinds of contamination. Stretching for an impressive 30 miles, Upper Klamath Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Oregon. It is surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes and forested hills. Aphanizomenon flos-aquae in the lake can represent over 95% of the summer phytoplanton biovolume when the Blue-Green Algae is in bloom.
Blue-Green Algae is nature's nutrient-dense superfood. It is the first link in the food chain and provides nourishment in its simplest one-celled form. It's a superfood because it has an amazing nutrient profile of some 20 or so amino acids, vitamins (high in Vitamin B), trace minerals and phytonutrients. Health specialists today are emphasizing the important for us to get omega-3 and omega-6 and wonderously they are also included in this superfood, AFA blue-green algae.
Why Algae?
* It meets the needs of the body at a cellular level.
* It bio-modulates the body.
* It is the only superfood that contains 21 mini acids!
* The most important thing you could put in your mouth is AFA blue-green algae.
Proponents of blue-green algae say, AFA contains an abundance of vitamins and essential minerals. It is a complete protein and contains beta-carotene, B-12, and antioxidants. They also say, AFA blue-green algae supports immune function, raises energy levels, and improves mental functioning.

Consider this 'superfood' providing many benefits, among which are the following:
*Supports good physical health
*Provides all essential amino acids that feed and enhance brain activity
*Promotes increased absorption and assimilation of food nutrients
*Supports cardiovascular health and normal cholesterol
*Maintains healthy immune system function
*Provides a natural, vegetarian source of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids
*Offers a convenient and affordable daily supply of a vast array of micro-nutrients
A very impressive list!

What are the safety factors of this algae as a food source?
Over the past 25 years, the harvesting of AFA Blue-Green Algae has met or exceeded all the qualifications required by Oregon State Department of Agriculture and the FDA. Inspectors come unannounced three or four times a year. Without exception, the harvesting company has met each year, all the federal and state safety criteria with flying colors.
The lake is specifically monitored by the Bureau of Reclamation with continuous water quality monitoring at 13 locations in Upper Klamath Lake. Water samples are collected weekly during May through September and are analyzed for nutrient and chlorophyll concentration. However, measurement of cholorophyll concentrations in the lake is complicated by the fact that AFA blue-green algae cells are able to regulate their buoyancy. Thus the blue-green algae can be concentrated is small layers all over the lake water. Thus contributing to some dis-similarity in the samples. Nevertheless, such over-sight preserves our health and safety.
Personal Testimonials
So for 25 years both of the producers of this website, Dot Feldman and Kay Grask, have been personally "eating" AFA Blue-Green Algae (BGA) and providing information of this glorious "superfood" to friends, relatives and others. At a cellular level, we attribute our good health to the fact that we have consumed the algae over so long a time.
* Kay has often been told that she looks much younger than her years and has particularly been told how clear and youthful her face skin is. She has abounded in energy to the amazement of herself and many others and attributes her sustained health and energy (no colds or flu) to "eating" the algae for years.
* Dot was certifiably...medically...diagnosed with Celiac Sprue over 20 years ago. This meant that she could not eat food that included wheat, rye, barley or oats.
The two years previous to her receiving a diagnosis, she progressed down a slow dipping spiral into starvation mode. As a matter of fact, she almost died!! Medical tests later, at the time things turned around for her, showed that the cilia of her intestines were lying flat and could not take in proper nourishment. Her primary care physician had puzzled why, when she prescribed Dot with mega dozes of iron, her blood tests did not measure much iron at all in her system.
Fortunately, two weeks after the gastro-intestinal explorations and receiving the proper diagnosis, Celiac Sprue, for her almost two year condition, Dot found that not eating glutin in any food source (and there are many), her body started taking in nourishment and she felt better, had much more energy and more color in her skin. So for the following five years after her diagnosis, Dot did not eat gluten, but she did discover and eat AFA Blue-Green Algae daily. Some will say it's a coinsidence that she ingested blue-green algae for a long period of time and when later tested her Celiac Sprue appeared to have disappeared. How she knew that, was one day she tried a few bites of freshly baked bread, thinking she would pay for the consequences later, and she got no ill effects. Gradually, Dot ate more and more food that contained gluten and found she not negatively effected.
An important Generalization: Now it is stated that once diagnosed with Celiac Sprue, one can never eat gluten. But what happened to Dot? At a cellular level, she and others believe, her reversed condition is attributable to ingesting Blue-Green Algae. For the past 15 years since her diagnosius, Dot has been eating in moderation, but with no restraint, all manner of foods containing gluten. The only change, the only difference that she and her doctors can account for her body readily accepting gluten is: For the 15 years after her diagnosis, she consistently ingested large amounts of Blue-Green Algae. We do not say that Blue Green Algae cures any specific diseases. We do say that, at a cellular level, Blue-Green Algae acts as an agent to bring about healthy bodily changes and that most everyone can experience some positive, albeit subtle, results when ingesting Blue-Green Algae daily into their bodies.
In addition we might add animals and plants benefit greatly from this nutrient-rich food. Dr. Madalyn Ward, D.V.M., Vetenarian, for years has emphasized the value of AFA Blue-Green Algae in the care and feeding of horses. (Bear creek Vetenarian Clinic, Austin TX)
About the Blue Green Algae Harvesting Process.
The harvesting and processing methods used to make the algae available for human consumption are some of the many critical factors making Blue Green Algae so unique and special. Freshwater algae is quite sensitive to heat, light and rapid spoilage. However the speedy harvesting process, (which takes only minutes to collect, clean, and freeze dry), locks in and preserves 95% of all the many nutrients contained in the algae. The patent-pending lake harvester used for the process is so unique, that the quality and condition of the algae it harvests is absolutely superior.
